Assistant Overview: The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
delivers direct rehabilitation services to patients under the
guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role encompasses
executing treatment plans, maintaining patient documentation, and
working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams while adhering
to healthcare regulations. Candidates must hold a valid license,
possess CPR certification, be adept in therapy software, and
demonstrate strong communication and customer service abilities in
a post-acute care environment. Position Overview The Physical
Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing direct
rehabilitation care to patients referred by physicians, under the
supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), in compliance
with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements Completion of an
accredited physical therapy program (ASPT). Current registration or
licensure in the relevant state, with an obligation to maintain an
active license in good standing throughout employment. Preferred
one (1) year of experience in a post-acute care or similar setting.
CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during
orientation, with the necessity to keep it current throughout
employment. Specific Job Responsibilities Engage in community
health initiatives and projects as appropriate. Proficient in
Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication. Coordinate with
patients, families, and support departments to effectively address
patient needs. Exhibit proper body mechanics consistently. Make
independent decisions when necessary. Possess knowledge of
practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in a
post-acute care facility. Implement and interpret departmental
programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Demonstrate
proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights,
safety, and sanitation. Maintain professional relationships with
colleagues, vendors, and others. Ensure confidentiality of all
proprietary and sensitive information. Adhere to organizational
policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the
organization's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance
training. Essential Functions Implement physical therapy treatment
plans as directed by the supervising PT. Document patient progress
accurately and in a timely manner. Utilize therapy software
effectively and correctly. Provide excellent customer service and
maintain a positive demeanor towards patients. Assist in the safe
evacuation of patients when necessary. Demonstrate reliable and
consistent attendance. Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment
in various situations. Collaborate effectively within an
interdisciplinary team. Engage in physical activities such as
sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping,
walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours.
Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
