Job Description Job Description Position Overview The Certified
Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) delivers direct
rehabilitation services in occupational therapy to patients
referred by physicians, working under the guidance of a licensed
Occupational Therapist (OT). This role adheres to all relevant
laws, regulations, and organizational standards. Qualifications and
Educational Background Must hold NBCOT certification upon hiring;
renewal is not mandatory thereafter. Graduated from an accredited
occupational therapy program (ASOT). Currently registered or
licensed in the relevant state, with an obligation to maintain an
active and valid license throughout employment. Preferred: At least
one year of experience in post-acute care or a similar environment.
CPR certification required upon hiring or to be obtained during
orientation; must remain current throughout employment. Job
Responsibilities Engage in community health initiatives and
projects as appropriate. Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and
email communication. Collaborate with patients, families, and
support departments to effectively address patient needs. Exhibit
proper body mechanics consistently. Make independent decisions when
necessary. Familiar with the practices, procedures, and regulations
governing operations in a post-acute care setting. Implement and
interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and
procedures. Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas,
including patient rights, safety, and sanitation. Maintain
professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others.
Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive
information. Understand and adhere to organizational policies,
including those related to harassment and compliance. Exhibit
integrity and professionalism by following the organization’s Code
of Conduct and completing required compliance training. Core Duties
Adhere to occupational treatment plans for patients as directed by
the supervising OT. Document patient progress accurately and in a
timely manner. Utilize therapy software effectively and correctly.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor
towards patients. Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when
necessary. Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance. Employ
reasoning skills and sound judgment in various situations.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within an
interdisciplinary team. Engage in physical activities such as
sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping,
walking, reaching, and moving throughout the workday. Read, write,
speak, and comprehend the English language proficiently. This
